The Day's Last Goodbye

Time means so little in your presence,
Oh yes, she remains the thief,
Who steals the moments all to quickly,
Bringing upon us the time we must part.

But eternity remains in your heart.
A gentle place that we shall forever share.
Fortress against change,
Whose high and mighty walls shield
The heart from the harsh buffets of life.

There remains always your smile,
Warming the winter's nights,
Long after the sun has said
The day's last goodbye.
And evening's blues and grays
Command the colors of the world.

My vigilant guide, your love.
Shepherding my steps,
Safely past the countless
Obstructions and hurdles
On the path to joy.

Feelings sought for a lifetime,
To know completion of soul,
Wonder and warmth surround all.
Even the smallest memory
Assumes profound meanings.
For the richness of every detail,
Holds the heart forever captive.
As the notes of the song,
Ring true upon these hearts.

The memory of your touch,
Lingering long beyond its reality,
Etched with such clarity,
Fingers placed upon my face.
Healing touch, soft touch,
Caresses imprinted for all time,
Here upon my heart.
To walk in wonder
To walk in love,
In the richness of your shadow.
