Sometimes It Is Quiet
Sometimes it is quiet,
The rush of life slows
Allowing for moments of reflection.
Holding all the memories of yesterday,
Gently, fearing their fragile nature,
Wondering if held too closely,
Will they vanish into the mist of time.

Sometimes it is quiet,
With only the song of the wind,
Stepping lightly in the trees to be heard.
Blending with the melodies of the days,
Days of warmth and joy with you.
Days of laughter, days of love,
Moments of song.

Sometimes it is quiet,
Here alone,
Only my thoughts to stay with my heart.
The song long silent, notes without a tune.
Longing for a whisper never heard,
Lying in a bed half used,
Afraid to face the dawn.

Sometimes it is quiet,
Sometimes it is sad,
Sometimes wishes fill a life,
For all we never had.
Sometimes tears will find me,
Holding memories of you,
Sometimes a misty memory,
A thousand shades of blue.
